Dear Friends

sueThe newly refurbished centre basin of St Katharine Docks marina is currently full of a fascinating array of boats taking part in this year’s Classic Boat Festival on Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th of September . Many of the boats are historic Dunkirk Little Ships which took part in Operation Dynamo in 1940. There will be live music from sea shanties to the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and on Saturday at 13.30 the Pandemonium Drummers who took part in the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics will be performing. The Blue Ribbon Village will be open on both days on Marble Quay from 11.00 – 17.00 featuring many river organisations with the chance to try your hand at canoeing in the safety of the Marina with Moo Canoes!

Below you will find details of our special Autumn event which is a visit to the fascinating Brooklands Museum in Weybridge for the Concorde Champagne Day. This is a not to be missed opportunity to meet and listen to the extraordinary story of this iconic plane from Capt Mike Bannister the Chief Concorde Pilot – on the anniversary of the very last Concorde flight.

We hope to see some of you at the Classic Boat Festival over the weekend which is one of the 150 events forming part of Totally Thames 2016 more details of the "Take me to the River" programme can be viewed at www.totallythames.org

Finally, we have added three new retail partners to our Concession scheme - please take a look at the great new discounts listed below which are now available to our members.

Concorde Champagne Day

At Brooklands Museum, Weybridge on Monday 24th October
Cost £69

Please join us for our special Autumn event to experience the Concorde Champagne day in leafy Weybridge. On 24 October 2003 three Concorde aircraft landed together at London Heathrow to mark the final commercial flights of the supersonic aircraft. The last to land was the BA002 from New York, the Captain that day, Chief Concorde Pilot Mike Bannister, will be our host for this event.

A party of up to 30 members will take the train from Waterloo and will be met by a vintage Routemaster bus to collect us at Weybridge station. Enjoy a glass of bucks fizz to start the day in the historic Members' Bar whilst listening to an introductory talk about Brooklands. You will then have time to visit the historic collections of cars, planes & motorbikes and visit the Concorde Simulator where all British Airways pilots trained. Then once on board Concorde you will be served a glass of champagne while you enjoy the "flight", be able to visit the flight deck & view the rear cabin exhibition. Over a buffet lunch in the Blue Bird Room we will have a talk and presentation by Capt. Mike Bannister. The cost of this very enjoyable day trip will be £69.00 (not including lunchtime drinks). Return train will arrive at Waterloo at approximately 17.30. Please click here for more details and to book your place now.
